Background
In the healthcare industry, understanding Digital Opinion Leaders (DOLs) is essential. By listening to their conversations online, pharmaceutical companies can learn about treatment preferences and market trends. This helps them form strategic partnerships and even turn aligned physicians into brand ambassadors, boosting their impact within the healthcare community.
Method
KNIGHTLABS conducted a social media analysis using both quantitative and qualitative methods. We developed a comprehensive list of keywords, tested them to validate data collection, and collected one year of historical data from November 2022 to November 2023. Filters were created to refine data analysis to target audiences and therapeutic areas. The analysis included quantitative ranking of DOLs based on various metrics and qualitative thematic analysis of their posts. Data collection utilized primary web research, next-generation social listening platforms, and real-time X/Twitter queries.
Top DOLs in Healthcare - Canada
This list describes the highest-ranked influencers on X/Twitter over the study period based on their average reach. Average reach is an average of the number of people estimated to have seen a given post from a source. The calculation looks at the reach of mentions from the source within the given period. Reach itself is calculated using metrics such as followers, engagement, page ranks and estimated views.
